Grimes Proves
Second Time is a Charm

French Grimes finished second by eight inches at
the last Virginia Sprint Series race but this week it wasn't even
close as after starting last in the field he took the lead from Satch
Worley at half way and cruised to victory. Fifteen cars took to the
track for the feature only event on a bit of a tricky track with Danny
Miller and Paul White pacing to the flag and Miller was out first
and was leading his first feature for a few laps but then Worley got
under him and tried to run away. Worley was a couple cars lenths ahead
of the field but by now it was plain to see Grimes was on a roll and
it would not be long before he was going to catch Worley. The halfway
flags were shown the field but it would be to a new leader as Grimes
was really hooked up and sped away from the field to take his first
of the year.
To recap the field: French Grimes, Satch Worley,
Billy Norfleet, Jerald Harris, Bill Rice, Pete Kingrea, Scott Vasbinder,
Mike Marr, Anthony Linkenhoker, Donnie Rodef fer, Chris Ware, Danny
Miller, Paul White, Tony Harris and Ron Moyer.
Next week the Virginia Sprint Series turns into
pavement pounders as it takes to the asphalt oval in Manassas, Va.
at Old Dominion Speedway on Saturday night May 31st.
